Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's camp needs support of at least 36 MLAs to avoid disqualification. Ajit Pawar's camp is reportedly seeking the support of at least 36 MLAs to avoid disqualification. Party sources say that 35 out of 53 NCP MLAs were present at the party meeting, with the number expected to increase further. Five out of eight NCP MLCs are also attending the meeting in suburban Bandra. Sharad Pawar's supporters gathered outside his residence in south Mumbai, while supporters of Ajit Pawar gathered outside his Devgiri official residence. MLA Anil Patil claimed that up to 40 of the 53 party MLAs are with Ajit Pawar. These are the first meetings involving party functionaries for both factions since Ajit Pawar and eight MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government on Sunday. Both factions have claimed they have most MLAs with them.
